Our Story

We were both born in Caracas, Venezuela, but grew up worlds apart: Gustavo in Dallas, Texas, and Maria in La Guaira, Venezuela.

At 18, we both landed in Austin, Texas, for college, each looking for the same thing: a way to stay close to our roots. Gustavo dreamed of Venezuelan friends (and secretly, a Venezuelan girlfriend), while Maria, newly arrived with her dad, was searching for people who felt like home. Mutual Venezuelan friends brought us together.

After two years of friendship, we both planned trips to Spain. Gustavo showed Maria his beloved city, Madrid, and soon after, in April 2022, we started dating.

Maria brought the Venezuela Gustavo had always longed for into his everyday life: its traditions, flavors, music and warmth.

Today we live in Dallas, growing intentionally in our roots, faith and love for each other, family, and friends.

That is why celebrating this day with you, in the country where it all began, means everything to us.
